Skills, Experience and Expertise:Alex Lesley Balagurusamy is responsible for implementing the best practice governance in PIDM, and ensuring ethics and integrity form the culture of PIDM. His key responsibilities are to enhance awareness in respect of integrity and ethics among employees, oversee and implement relevant behaviour related codes and policies, and ensure the corporate Compliance Programme is effective, robust and implemented in a timely manner.
Alex joined PIDM in 2009 as Manager, Intervention and Failure Resolution, and was appointed as Senior Manager in December 2012. He was redesignated as Legal Counsel in October 2015, and was responsible for a range of legal services including provision of legal advice, drafting and vetting of contracts as well as maintenance of the Malaysia Deposit Insurance Corporation Act 2011.
Alex started his career in corporate insolvency practice with RSM Nelson Wheeler Teo Corporate Advisory Services, and specialised in debenture-appointed receivership and compulsory liquidation.
Prior to joining PIDM, he was with Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad, and was responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and exiting recovery strategies for non-performing and delinquent loans.
